The “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon held on Friday, led by actor George Clooney and Haiti-born rapper Wyclef Jean, raised more than $57 million (35 million pounds) for relief, organizers said.

During the December holidays, I told a very good friend, Melikhaya, about one of my father’s dreams, which was to travel with the Springboks rugby team on tours to New Zealand and Australia. Unfortunately, he was unable to do this before his death. It has now become one of my dreams and I am working towards going to the next Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. As much as such events shock and disgust us, we also know that “This is Africa.” (T.I.A). Until the day that we, in Africa, can honestly work, live, share and play as one, then violence will always be an African reality. Below is a music video of a musician called K’naan, singing about the reality of living in Africa. What I like about this song is that he describes the realities that we, as Africans, live in everyday and how we keep managing to LIVE here. T.I.A.
