The ZA Car Show is looking for South Africa’s smartest petrolhead. The country’s original motoring podcast will be staging a motoring-themed pub quiz in Johannesburg on 27 March with great prizes up for grabs. Co-host and editor of the show, Christo van Gemert says, “We were tired of all the general knowledge quizzes taking place and wanted to put together an event for serious petrolheads only.”

South African production car champion, Trevor Tuck and ZA Car Show co-host, Patrick Gearing will be firing off questions to participants on the night. Six categories have been chosen to test the knowledge of car lovers including motoring history, modern motoring, technical knowledge and motorsport moments.

There will also be two special categories.

Explains van Gemert, “To spice things up we’re going to throw in a ‘mystery car’ section where obscure vehicles will need to be identified by photos. There’s also an audio quiz where participants will have to listen carefully to identify iconic engine and exhaust notes.”

The pub quiz will take place on the evening of Tuesday, 27 March at the Baron on Main road in Bryanston, Johannesburg. The starting time is 19h00, and will run until approximately 21h30. The format of the quiz will have teams of four members each answering questions in six categories with prizes up for grabs in each round.
