Ferrari has decided to officially recall its new 458 Italia following an unusually high number of fires breaking out in the supercar’s engine bay. An intensive investigation into the matter revealed that the adhesive used to attach a heat shield to the rear bumper has the potential to ignite when under-bonnet temperatures get too high. So in order to avoid any more embarrassing roadside flambés, Ferrari has consequently advised all 458 owners to report to their nearest dealership where a new, rivet-based heat shield will be fitted to their car free of charge.
