Fans of the leaping cat will be pleased to hear that Jaguar is unveiling a limited-edition XKR at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 2. Built to celebrate their 75th Anniversary and sporting more boast-worthy performance figures than the standard model, the new XKR 75 comes loaded with a specially tuned version of the firm’s five-litre V8 engine. Bolted to a supercharger this old-school lump whacks out an astounding 395 kW worth of power and a planet-twisting 655 Nm of torque – good enough to see this kitty hustle to 100km/h in a mere 4.4-seconds. Steer it down a straight road, squash that accelerator pedal, and you’ll top out at a limited top speed of 280km/h. Nice.
Of course a hike in all-out grunt only tells half of the XKR 75 story as Jag’s engineers have worked in a host of subtle suspension and chassis tweaks to help improve handling and overall precision. Even this model’s aerodynamics have been fettled with thanks to the inclusion of a revised body kit consisting of a unique front splitter, side sills extensions, a rear diffuser and larger rear spoiler providing increased balance and a reduction in lift. The XKR’s computerised Active Differential Control also adjusts to reduce steering sensitivity at very high speeds, further improving stability and driver control.
Finishing things off is a cross-over sports exhaust system offering improved performance and acoustics, exclusive Stratus Grey paint, red brake calipers, 20-inch gloss Vortex forged alloy wheels and an optional body graphic that runs from this big cat’s front bumper right back to its rear haunches. Jaguar plans to build (yup, you guessed it) 75 examples of this £85,500 XKR and you’ll only be able to purchase one if you reside in either the UK, Germany, France, Italy, The Netherlands or Belgium.
