Sebring 12-Hour

With Audi not in the running, Peugeot was left to clean up at this year’s running of the Sebring 12-Hour; the first race in the 2010 American Le Mans Series calendar. Dominating from the get go, the two factory 908 HDIs fired around the circuit at an impressive lick with the No.7 car of Alexander Wurz, Marc Gene and Anthony Davidson eventually crossing the finish line in first place. Right behind them and hot on their heels came the n0.8 sister car driven by Sebastien Bourdais, Nicolas Minassian and Pedro Lamy. Third place was clinched by Adrian Fernandez, Stefan Mucke and Harold Primat in the Lola-Aston Martin. And while Team CytoSport’s 2008 Porsche RS Spyder came up trumps in the LMP2 Class, the hotly contended GT2 class was won by the Risi Competizione Ferrari F430 GT driven by Jaime Melo, Gimmi Bruni Pierre Kaffer. BMW, despite all their pre-race trouble, also fared well in the GT2 battle with their M3′s finishing behind the Ferrari in 2nd and 3rd postions. A big disappointment, however, was the overall performance of the Corvette Racing team; their once-fearsome, GT1 ruling C6.Rs only managing to come home in eighth and ninth positions.
