Red Bull Racing

Perhaps it’s still too early to tell but going on what I witnessed at yesterday’s Bahrain Grand Prix, it seems that Red Bull Racing is going to be the team to beat in 2010. For not only does the rapid RB6 benefit from the design talents of Adrian Newey, it also has one of the hottest drivers sitting behind it wheel. Blisteringly quick during qualifying, 23-year-old Sebastian Vettel was practically untouchable in the race until a faulty spark plug caused his Renault engine to suddenly lose power on lap 33, thus allowing Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa and McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton to all shoot past. Eventually finishing the race in fourth position and earning 12 valuable world championship points in the process, it was quite clear to everyone concerned that victory at Bahrain should have been his. The Red Bull team also seemed to have the most jacked pit crew of the day too, their mechanics swapping the tyres of both cars with a slickness that at times defied belief. I don’t know what team principal Christian Horner has done during F1′s off season but his army of red and blue soldiers seem stronger than they’ve ever been. Needless to say the next GP in Australia should be very interesting.
