Following on from the premiere of their new 5 Series Sedan at the Geneva Motor Show, BMW have just revealed what the forthcoming Touring version will look like when it’s released later this year. Similar to its Gran Turismo cousin, this classy new estate version features a clever dual-opening tailgate; the glass section of which flips up like a hatchback to help you gain access to smaller items of luggage hiding within the 560-litre capacity boot. On the inside, based closely on 7 Series underpinnings, the spacious 5 Series Touring comes standard with luxuries like leather seats and automatic air conditioning. Special rear air suspension is also included in the list price and it promises to deliver a very comfortable and stable ride across a variety of different road surfaces. Like other current BMW models, toys like an automatic parking system, four-wheel steering, a head-up display, night vision and speed limit recognition are all available as options. Going on proposed UK prices the entry-level 520d Touring should cost in the region R358 500, with the range-topping 535i coming in at around R468 000. Here’s hoping that they bring out an M5 version…
