911 Turbo S

Porsche is turning up the supercar heat with its new 911 Turbo S. Quipped to debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March, this monster of a 911 (incidentally the first S model to roll out of Stuttgart in the last five years) features a twin-turbocharged flat-six engine that has been tweaked to deliver a thrilling 390 kilowatts of power and no less than 700 Newton metres of torque. This culminates in a 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.3-seconds (quicker than the 911 GT2) and a maximum speed of 315km/h. All this grunt is transferred to the ground via Porsche’s adaptive all-wheel drive system and is kept in check by driver aids such as Porsche Traction Management and Porsche Torque Vectoring; a system that helps point the car exactly where the driver steers it.

Cog-swapping duties are of course taken care of by the firm’s seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) gearbox while the brakes have been upgraded to extra light Porsche Ceramic Composite items. Other distinguishing features of the Turbo S include, Dynamic Bending Lights, 19-inch RS Spyder wheels, a three-spoke sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles, adaptive sports seats, cruise control, a CD/DVD changer and exclusive twin-tone leather upholstery in either Black/Crema or Black/Titanium Blue. Expected to go on sale in Europe in May, the Turbo S Coupé is expected to retail for R1 827 692.
