Ford Fiesta S2000

This sweet looking Ford is the new Fiesta S2000 rally car that was recently unveiled by Malcolm Wilson’s M-Sport Team. All set to make its racing debut at a selection of international rallies next year, this monster of a super-mini is also going to be taking over WRC duties from the Ford Focus in 2011; a season that will see the sport change dramatically with manufacturers forced to downsize their machinery to make things simpler and more competitive. Weighting in at 1200kg, the S2000 comes loaded with a naturally aspirated four-cylinder two-litre engine that’s good for 209-kilowatts at a heady 8000rpm. Laying all this power to the dirt is an advanced four-wheel drive system and a snap-shifting six-speed sequential  gearbox. Personally, being a Fiesta owner, I can’t wait to see the S2000 shredding-up the WRC stages in 2011. And although it’ll face stiff competition from the likes of Peugeot’s 207, Fiat’s Abarth Grande Punto and, in all likelihood, Renault’s Clio RS, I think this little car will be a dirt-slinging force to be reckoned with. Finally, this exercise will also do much for building up the Fiesta’s petrolhead kudos; just look at what being part of the WRC did for the likes of Subaru…
