The last Citi Golf to ever roll off the production line has been auctioned off for an incredible R300 100 – three times its normal retail price. The auction was hosted on South Africa’s bid-or-buy website and lasted for three weeks. Eventually it was sold to a Port Elizabeth resident who, clearly, has more money than sense because nobody with the vaguest degree of sanity should pay such an exorbitant amount of money for such an antiqued and mass-produced motorcar such as the VW Citi Golf. Thankfully, the fool’s easily parted money will actually be going towards a worthy cause; the Ubuntu Education Fund that, based in PE, looks after ailing HIV/AIDS orphans.
