I don’t know about you but I think the silver Mercedes-Benz C11 has to be the most attractive racing car ever built. A combatant of the epic Group C era that saw the prototyped likes of Porsche, Nissan and Jaguar hit speeds of up to 407km/h down Le Mans’ Mulsanne Straight, the C11 won all but one race in the 1990 season and subsequently nabbed the hotly contested constructor’s championship. Replacing the successful Sauber C9 that campaigned before it – the C10 nomenclature was skipped due to its tough pronunciation in German – the C11 was bolted to an insane, 5-litre turbocharged V8 that could whoosh out 700-kilowatts of tar-shredding power. Yup, they sure don’t make ‘em like they used to…

Nonsense! Group C was one of the best racing eras the world has ever seen, and the C11 was by far the most attractive car on the grid…
