Electric car fiends looking for the ultimate in zero-emissions performance can now spec their Tesla Roadster with an optional Sport package. For a snip under $20k, this upgrade throws in firmer suspension with adjustable dampers, customised anti-roll bars and a set of ultra-high performance Yokohama tyres stuck on special stealth-black alloys. Besides benefiting from sharper handling, the new Roadster Sport also comes equipped with a hand-wound stator in the electric motor that – now able to spin with less resistance – allows for a higher top speed and snappier acceleration; the all-important 0-100km/h dash now takes a phenomenal 3.7-seconds. Downsides? Well, all this added trickery now takes the Roadster’s already exorbitant price-tag soaring to the $128k mark – R974 080 in our useless currency. Still, if I had the cash, I’d definitely park one of these shockingly cool cars in my garage…
