So you thought Nissan’s iPhone application for the Leaf was cool? Well, a German company called Appirion has just bettered this by developing an application for Apple’s smartphone that turns your vehicle into a life-sized radio-controlled car. Featuring separate buttons for accelerating and braking, this unique application also utilises the iPhone’s motion-sensitive capabilities for steering, which means that you control your machine without actually being in the driver’s seat. Of course this system won’t work on just any car, as a special Wi-Fi control rig needs to be installed inside your vehicle before the application can do its thing. I must admit it’s a very innovative piece of software but – besides James Bond of course – I’m not sure if it’ll be of any real use to the motoring layman.
