The AT&T Williams F1 Team told the press on Wednesday that they will stop using Toyota engines at the end of the 2009 season. The Japanese outfit has been supplying Williams with their V8s for the last three seasons; a partnership that’s so far scored 93.5 world championship points and three podium positions. Previously the famed British racing team used BMW engines but after the Munich-based manufacturer setup ties with Sauber, they signed a three-season contract with Toyota after a brief and relatively unsuccessful one-season stint with Cosworth. “We are proud that we have been able to work with such a great company and we are grateful to the team in Cologne for their support,” said team principal Frank Williams. “I would like to single out for our thanks the Toyota engineers and technicians who have worked within our race team tirelessly for the past three years.” Williams is yet to disclose what engine will be powering their cars in 2010.
