If you thought Tesla’s electric wizardry was reserved for nimble little sports cars, well, think again. The company is now putting their new-age thinking towards a practical four-door saloon car. Designed by Franz von Holzhausen, the man behind Mazda’s Furai concept, the Tesla Model S will be able to carry five adults in comfort and features an all electric motor powered by special lithium-ion batteries. Unlike the Tesla Roadster, which is made from expensive materials like carbon fiber, the Model S will considerably cheaper thanks to its all aluminium construction. Performance wise, expect a 0-100kp/h time of under 6-seconds. Apparently already 90% complete, it should break cover sometime in 2010. Bring it on…
What an interesting concept…..lets hope that it works out as this will be easy on the earth being electric and not a petrol consumer.
In future, could you please make sure the pictures of the cars include you behind the wheel?
That’s what all the girls say! Ha, I wish I could get behind the wheel of a Tesla, but there are none in SA at the moment.
