Who punched Minnie Dlamini?

By Fifi | 15 August 2011

Twitter was abuzz and many horrified on Sunday morning following Live presenters Minnie Dhlamini’s tweet claiming she was hit by a bouncer at Hush nightclub in Rosebank.

The Hush management was quick to refute Minnies claims . They said this in a Press Release released by Hush Night Club;

“Minnie alleged that Hush Security had assaulted her, but, as was confirmed by her friends, it was allegedly a client at the next door table who she had got into an argument with. Minnie was caught up in the fight and was hit unintentionally by a male HUSH client. Never was she punched intentionally by any of Hush staff let alone even the client. She was only on the receiving end of a punch that was not meant for her, but for our manager who actually tried to protect Minnie.”

Minnie was quick to respond to claims made by Hush. She tweeted:

Her agency also replied in a statement saying:

“We stand by the statement the first punch was thrown by the patron, then the manager threw the second punch and the bouncers manhandled Minnie Dlamini. ” they said.

Is Nonhle Thema jealous of Bonang Matheba’s Reality Show?

By Fifi | 16 May 2011

Bonang changed into another outfit after the speeches and formalities

FHM dubbed Bonang Matheba “SA’s Queen Of All Media” and I can’t think of a better description.  The 23 year old is a TV and radio personality; owns a handbag label, has her own website and she’s an ambassador for several products (to name a few: she has a Diva Divine weave named after her, drives a sponsored Peugeot and is the face of Gert Johan Coetzee’s fashion label).

She’s a dominant figure in the entertainment industry and now she’s determined to conquer online media.

Last week Bonang held an intimate party where she celebrated her FHM cover and announced her latest venture: her own reality show. The show is billed as an inside look into her busy life and every week a 15 minute episode will be aired on her website.

But viewers got their first glimpse of Bonang’s lifestyle when she was featured in the debut episode of VUZU TV’s new lifestyle reality show, Top Shayela. Twitter was buzzing the night it was screened as fans watched in awe and admiration.

But amidst the rave reviews, there were Nonhle Thema‘s passive aggressive to arrogant tweets about other entertainers trying to copy her reality show ‘swag’.

Nonhle was the first South African to receive her own Reality Show “Nonhle Goes To Hollywood” but the show was discontinued after it received negative response. Her questionable tweets have spurred rumours that she might be jealous of Bonang’s popularity and success.

Here are some more pictures from Bonang’s B*Dazzled party:

It wasn’t a ladies only affair. I also spotted her rumoured boyfriend DJ Euphonik as well as Lulo Café, Da L.E.S, T Bo Touch, Kaos Matu, Gert Johan Coetzee and Linda Moeketsi, but my camera was dead by then.

Doritos Late Night VIP at ZAR

On Thursday night I went off to ZAR to party for chips, well sort of. Doritos held a party to celebrate their new chip flavour ‘Doritos Late Night Chilli Ribs’ and announce their brand ambassadors. When I told my friends and colleagues about this event they joked about the new chips being sushi flavoured because they failed to see the association between chips and clubbing. They eventually concluded that brands want any excuse to throw a party.

Anyways, when I got to ZAR, Kenny ‘Mr Sushi King’ Kunene was standing at the entrance. He was putting on his shades before allowing people to photograph him. (He really enjoys basking in the limelight)

Comedian Christopher Forrest was the MC for the night. He was also announced as a Doritos brand ambassador along with SABC1’s Live presenter Minenhle Dlamini, Hip-hop group Teargas, Vuzu’s V-Entertainment presenter Lalla Hirayama and ‘hyper-pop’ musician Jax Panik.

Teargas was provided the live entertainment but their performance was ruined by the technical difficulties. As the technicians were trying to figure out the root of the problem, a group of waiters walked in with trays of tequila. I may be wrong but I think they were trying to distract us from what was happening on stage. Then Teargas continued with their performance.

Doritos chips, branding and plasma screens displaying tweets about the party were spread around the club. And Doritos gave away iPads to some lucky guests. Lalla Hirayama, who happens to be one of their ambassadors, also won an iPad. Drinks were free all night and so were the chips. I spotted quite a few people munching and sipping on the dance floor.
