Has anyone seen the new KFC ad starring Khanyi Mbau and Kelly Khumalo? Like the previous ad with goalies for rival teams Moeneeb Josephs and Itumeleng Khune, the two are “united” in their love for KFC. Hmmm…
For those who don’t know, Khanyi and Kelly have been sparring in gossip rags for a while now. Kelly even bliksemed Khanyi in a Rosebank salon once. And now, lo and behold, the two are in an advert sharing a new meal that has pap in it (only black girls eat pap, KFC?).
We wonder just how much the two were paid to not only be in the same room together, but to fake a friendly conversation. Imagine how dramatic the shoot must have been – we would have loved to be the gaffer at that filming. Actually, do the two REALLY detest each other or have they just been putting on a show for some paragraphs in a story and insets on a gossip show?
Either way, KFC is cashing in on this – and so are Kelly and Khanyi, although their love/hate relationship is so 2010.
So, KFC, who will star in your next ad? Dineo Ranaka and Nonhle Thema? Wouldn’t THAT be juicy?
Mika Stefano is a shameless self promoter. And I mean it as a compliment. He started an entertainment blog (when most SA’s didn’t even read blogs), named it after himself. Came up with a slogan “GP’s Gossip Gangster”. Then he did some guerrilla marketing: placed stickers advertising his blog around JHB, took pictures of himself with the stars at parties and documented all the entertaining things he got up to.
His blog transformed him from a socialite to a cyber celebrity. And now that the internet has become an integral part of our reality, he’s attaining fame outside its boarders. He’s one of the few local bloggers that have managed to spill onto traditional media.
Today is his 25th birthday & every 2 minutes someone I’m following is wishing him a great day (he has more followers than some celebs have fans). Anyways today is his birthday but his party was this past weekend. He had a “Egyptian Swag” themed party at The Pyramid Venue in downtown Joburg.
You can watch the video at TimesLIVE Multimedia. I suggest you do. Some of the guests really dressed up, Khanyi Mbau came out of hibernation for the party and Mika ate hot wings off a half naked male model.
Today Khanyi Mbau and David Kau are hosting Metro FM’s drive-time show as part of the stations celebrity week. The show is usually co-hosted by Glen Lewis and Unathi Msengana under the name, The Avenue. But this week local stars like Sophie Ndaba, Khuli Roberts and Julius Malema got an opportunity to play DJ for a day.
Yesterday Julius Malema and Minenhle Dlamini took over the slot and their show was named The Juju Drive. The pair attracted thousands of listeners to the station. With most people tuning in to hear the outspoken Youth League President on air. Issues relating to politics were forbidden. The pair kept the show casual as they talked about their taste in partners, partying and pronunciation.
A definite highlight was when Minnie bought up the question of whether people should look for a partner in clubs/ parties. Julius said if/ when you do, you wake up in the morning and ask yourself ” what did I bring home?”. He also teased musician, Zakes Bantwini’s pronunciation of the word “wasting” saying that it sounds like hes added the letter R to it, making it sound like he’s saying “worsting”
This celebrity week on Metro is meant to highlight the line-up changes that they are making. And today they held a press conference to announce their new line-up. This reshuffling has caused quite a stir as some of the attendees were not too happy with some of the changes.
The main changes include T-bo Touch taking over the afternoon drive-time show. And Glen Lewis and Unathi Msengana are moving to the morning show.

Khanyi Mbau’s was wearing a Naomi Campbell- esque weave yesterday at Jo’burg Fashion Week’s Fastrack event where she was modeling for Head Honcho (she’s their new brand ambassador). We asked her if it was from Diva Divine, a favourite of local celebs like Bonang Matheba, and this was her response…

Twitter and Facebook went crazy on Saturday night after the Real Goboza aired Dr Rey’s comments on Uyanda Mbuli’s nose when he said: “Uyanda should be careful when she turns on her bed so that her nose does not break on the pillow”.
I have it on good authority, that Dr Rey had absolutely no idea of what Uyanda Mbuli or Khanyi Mbau looked like when he was asked to give comment on both of their procedures.
He gave some rather general advice to those who had nose jobs or boob augmentations, and warned those who had multiple procedures to be careful.
Real Goboza gets a ‘Big ups’ for provoking some strong reactions to their bit on the babes’ surgery.
But the lovely ladies have little chance we think of making a big legal deal out of all this. Let’s face it, Dr Rey who admits to having had nasal surgery himself, ‘nose’ exactly the right advice to give to those who go under the knife for beauty. He’s the expert.
