This past weekend saw a lot of parties, and of course it’s always impossible to keep up, hence The Social was unable to make sweet young ‘un Boitumelo Thulo’s birthday party at Taboo nightclub in Sandton. But word is it was as sweet as her smile.

Following in the footsteps of the Kardashians and Paris Hilton, Bonang Matheba also has a reality show called B*dazzled. The show which is on its fifth episode is a look at the fabulous and glamorous life of Bonang Matheba the Live presenter and Yfm dj. Packaged in 15 minute shows it gives us a taste of Bonang’s life from work, parties and magazine launches.
The reality show is entertaining. Her use of vernacular language, Bonang being teargassed in Soweto (You will have to watch the show to know what I am talking about) all make Bonangs reality show real. It steers clear from the scripted feel that a certain Miss Thema had in her reality show when she went to Hollywood.
She is able to capture the girl next door look without losing her star factor. We would love abit more drama on the show though and maybe to delve a little deeper into her personal life. An episode with boyfriend Euphonik would be very interesting.
An episode of the show is flighted every month on her website . This type of reality show would be a hit on our local television station. Vuzu Entertainment would be the perfect market for such a show but I doubt her contract with SABC would allow her to liase with the competitors. Knowing how broke SABC I doubt we will be seeing B* dazzled on our screens anytime soon.
Until then you can watch her fifth episode right here:
Not only was Kylie spoiled by having a lion cub named after her whilst touring South Africa, but she also got another surprise when she popped into her suite at The Palace, Sun City, in-between performances and game drives.
Fashion designer Gert-Johan Coetzee organised for Sun International management to sneak one of his dresses into her room as a gift.
“The garment that I selected to give her is one that I showed at SA Fashion Week in April 2011,” said Coetzee.
“The dress has a futuristic feel and has a biker-girl look which is really in right now. I really hope that she likes it and that it is small enough because she really tiny.”
Designers take a big chance when gifting a garment to a celebrity as the gesture could not necessarily go in their favour – and even if they do wear it, paparazzi may not be bothered to find out who it is made by – but judging from the style of the dresses that Minogue wears on stage during her concert – I feel that there is a strong chance that she may just wear Coetzee’s garment in the future.
This isn’t the first time that Gert has gifted an international star. When Kim and Khloe Kardashian were in South Africa late last year, he gave them dresses. Khloe sold her’s on ebay and then the third of the Kardasian sisters, Kourtney, wore Kim’s dress to The People’s Choice Awards. Her celebrity gave value to his brand and a few months later reality TV star Kristin Cavallari of “The Hills” fame asked Gert to dress her for her 24th birthday bash.
Apart from dressing and making Bonang Matheba look fabulous, Coetzee is also currently judging the Miss SA competition regional paper entries for the competition.

FHM dubbed Bonang Matheba “SA’s Queen Of All Media” and I can’t think of a better description. The 23 year old is a TV and radio personality; owns a handbag label, has her own website and she’s an ambassador for several products (to name a few: she has a Diva Divine weave named after her, drives a sponsored Peugeot and is the face of Gert Johan Coetzee’s fashion label).
She’s a dominant figure in the entertainment industry and now she’s determined to conquer online media.
Last week Bonang held an intimate party where she celebrated her FHM cover and announced her latest venture: her own reality show. The show is billed as an inside look into her busy life and every week a 15 minute episode will be aired on her website.
But viewers got their first glimpse of Bonang’s lifestyle when she was featured in the debut episode of VUZU TV’s new lifestyle reality show, Top Shayela. Twitter was buzzing the night it was screened as fans watched in awe and admiration.
But amidst the rave reviews, there were Nonhle Thema‘s passive aggressive to arrogant tweets about other entertainers trying to copy her reality show ‘swag’.
Nonhle was the first South African to receive her own Reality Show “Nonhle Goes To Hollywood” but the show was discontinued after it received negative response. Her questionable tweets have spurred rumours that she might be jealous of Bonang’s popularity and success.
Here are some more pictures from Bonang’s B*Dazzled party:
It wasn’t a ladies only affair. I also spotted her rumoured boyfriend DJ Euphonik as well as Lulo Café, Da L.E.S, T Bo Touch, Kaos Matu, Gert Johan Coetzee and Linda Moeketsi, but my camera was dead by then.
VUZU TV has an exciting new show billed as a no-holds-barred access into a world of celebrity life. The show, Top Shayela, is a celebrity lifestyle reality TV show that gives viewers the VIP pass into the epicentre of the elite crowds of South Africa. The shows’ concept dwells on the intimate view on the celebrities’ daily routine with a just a hint of personal vantage.
In each episode viewers get to hear and live the personal story of the guest celeb, looking at how they made it onto the A-list crowds and what is required to stay there. The show will also delve into the softer and more intimate side of the guest celebrities. It also looks at the charities they support, the heartaches they may have suffered in their journey and their shortfalls.
The show is hosted by well-known TV personality; Siyabonga Ngwekazi. He says “The show celebrates the achievements of prominent people within the entertainment landscape. “I feel great about the show, it has a creative and artsy feel to it” Ngwekazi says the celebs they approached were receptive and “I have to commend them for allowing us to delve into their lives.”He says the show is unique in that it profiles young people who have made and “who are not afraid to celebrate their achievements.”
In the debut episode, TV and radio personality, Bonang Matheba shows viewers what it takes to stay at the top of her game. The beautiful lass will reveal her secrets of staying on top of her busy schedule and it will also be about nails, the weave as well as the swag and ensuring that the spotlight never moves from her.
Other celebrities that will be featured in the forthcoming episodes show include Uyanda Mbuli on being served like a queen, Da L.E.S – a typical night out for a baller, Somizi on fashion and DJ Sbu on what you need to do to be a hustler.

The highly publicized split between business woman Uyanda Mbuli and designer partner Gert Johan Coetzee last year made the two a big attraction at SA Fashion Week. They may not be rivals anymore but celebs, fans and fashionista’s were looking forward to critiquing and comparing their collections.
This year was the 2nd time that Diamond Face Couture, the Fashion label owned by Uyanda Mbuli was showing at SAFW without collaborative partner Gert Johan Coetzee, the man who was believed to be the talent in the partnership.
Uyanda’s show closed closed the opening night of fashion Week and I must be honest, the collection was a trip! There was no cohesive theme that stringed the collection together. The line just seemed obscure.
Her fashion label collaborated with with the sporting retail company Cross Trainer. While I understand how they were trying to create an urban and edgy look this didn’t translate as well on the ramp. Dion Chang described the collection theme on his blog as “corporate secretaries who go out for a binge night (on a school night), and come daybreak, haven’t quite come off the drugs and have to dress hastily for work.”
Gert Johan Coetzee’s collection was dramatic with Miss South Africa Bokang Montjane and Bonang Matheba as models. Besides the dress modeled by Miss South Africa there was no sign of the signature of the Tutu skirt. While I enjoyed the collection I overheard someone in great disappointment asking for the 20 minutes of her life back.

On Thursday night I attended the Nine West & YFM Shopping experience at the Nine West store at the Zone in Rosebank (more about that soon). While I was there I asked Bonang Matheba the question that most guys are dying to ask, whether she’d consider posing for Playboy Magazine. P.S. wait for the video to buffer after you’ve pressed play now.

This week I’d like to congratulate O Access presenter, Dineo Moeketsi and Rapper AKA. No their not dating or anything like that. But we wouldn’t mind seeing them together, they’re both genetically blessed and extremely talented.
On Tuesday I watched the first episode of O Access season 5 and saw why Dineo beat thousands of other contestants for the job. This 21 year old blew me away! She interviewed RnB star, Trey Songz and managed to keep her composure and convince me of her talent. She was articulate, prepared and charismatic. I’m not the only one who’s sold. Twitter was buzzing as fans and industry veterans sang her praises.
Popular TV and radio personality, Bonang Matheba (@Bonang_M) tweeted: “Nothing more magical than a young girl who’s f***n awesome at what she does!!! *standing ovation*… Murked! @therealdineo! #OAcess”
And now we show love to AKA. His single “Victory Lap” has made it to the 1 number 1 spot on Metro FM Top 40 Chart, after being on the charts for over 10 weeks. He also debuted his latest single “All I know” and I think it’s another hit. It’ll squash any haters hopes of labeling him a 1 hit wonder. The song was debuted on Unathi’s Drivetime show, The Avenue and became a trending topic moments later (for all the right reasons).
We interviewed Tumi earlier this month and he had a lot to say about AKA: you can watch it HERE
Last night I made my way to a rustic 1950′s style mansion in the heart of Houghton. When I arrived I was ushered to a parking bay and chauffeur driven, on a golf cart, to the entrance of the mansion. Then a dapper looking gentleman known as Thulane Hadebe (AKA PR extraordinaire) gave me a jovial greeting as I strolled in.
Loyiso Gola and Dj Switch were the first “familiar” faces I spotted as I scanned the venue. I did a double take when I saw Loyiso, I don’t know why someone so tall would intentionally fold their jeans up above the ankles. It’s not flattering at all, in fact it made him look “stupid tall”.
Then I explored the mansion. It’s perched on of a hill, overlooking Joburg. So the view was stunning. And it’s so refreshing to be at an intimate, indoor-outdoor venue.
I overheard one of the guests comparing it to the Dunkeld House, complaining that “it’s not as fancy as the Dunkeld House”. I had to stop myself from telling them that it’s not meant to, it’s not as modern but it’s definitely got more character and everyone gets tired of going to the same venues.
Moments later Louise Carver, Bonang Matheba, Jafta Mamabolo, HHP, Pro and a bunch of other celebs arrived. The turnout was great. The celebs, socialites, wannabees and the people who help make them famous (producers, editors ect) were all there, sipping on copious amounts of Patrón, eating canapes, dancing and networking.
JR, Flash Republic and Da L.E.S entertained the crowd. When Da L.E.S got on stage to perfom ” We on fire” Tembisa Mdoda sprinted to the dancefloor in her heels and little black dress. Da L.E.S performed as Jozi but without Ishmael. Maggz and some of L.E.S’s friends helped him fill the stage and acted as under studies for the night. The performance was great regardless, until the power went out. But it was only for a minute.
I got a chance to talk to L.E.S and inquired about Ishmael’s absence. He said Ish couldn’t make because he had to put in hours at the studio, and added “Jozi is made of solo artists”. He also revealed that Jozi has been shooting a reality show but he wouldn’t reveal the network that will air it.
Did I mention that there was an open bar (all night) that offered a variety of cocktails made with Patrón. The Patróniser (Patrón+ Appletiser) was the hot favourite. The party was supposed to end at 22:30 so that everyone could make their way to Hush for the after party. But everyone was having fun and only left after midnight.
I had so much fun mingling and dancing that I skipped the after party. I was content so I called it a night. It was the best party I’ve been to in a long time.
