How do you have a party without this trio these days?
They given the nod as last year’s Best Hospitality Facility at the Durban July, and with MTV Base releasing the list of performers set to rock their marquee on July 6 and 7, it’s hard to see them not winning it again.
Very few people that go to the race event go to put bets on their favourite horses- that’s why hospitality matters more than the goings-on on the course. So securing the biggest stars and catering for your marquee puts you ahead of the pack.

The now indie Pro Kid will let us in on his new material
Without trying to great controversy, it is disappointing that no female artists are on the bill. But MTV Base can still be forgiven, because Donald, Mi Casa, Zakes Bantwini, Teargas, Pro Kid, JR, Lulo Cafe, Black Coffee, Dimplez and DJ Vigilante will be on hand to entertain invitees. The MTV Base Lifestyle Oasis Village will be located in the Ascot Village.
Before all the glitz of the main day, a pre-party will be held at De La Sol at 10pm, and will feature DJs Vinny Da Vinci, Sphectacula & Naves, and again Lulo Cafe.

Partaaaaay!
Tickets are R650 per person at Computicket or for VVIP bookings, people are to email admin@blackincevents.co.za or nick@delasol.co.za
Alternatively call 031 312 9435. MTV Base on DStv channel 322 will also acrry furtehr details.

Zaki Ibrahim performs at her album launch at Great Dane in Braamfontein
This may be a little late, but we captured some pictures from different gigs in the past couple of weeks that we wanted to share. Enjoy!

Zaki was launching her album Every Opposite
Mam’ Sibongile Khumalo brought along with her a popping voice and new songs. She performed indoors, and unlike the dancing going on outside, where HHP and Lira (she sampled electronic sounds and even did a short cover of Rihanna’s We Found Love) performed, Khumalo had her crowd seated and in silence. That voice is still magic after all these years.

One can never not dance when this man is on stage. This time he performed alongside a choir

A year since the release of their self-titled debut album The Soil was released, and the talented acapella trio (Ntsika Ngxanga, Luphindo Ngxanga, and Buhlebendalo Mda), have announced they will be hitting four universities nationwide in support of their offering. We like the unofficial competition for the young ears between these guys and The Muffinz. Both have been gathering quite a bit of momentum, and especially in the case of The Soil, through word-of-mouth.

THE DATES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
20 July 2012 – THE SOIL CAMPUS TOUR – Wits Theatre [starts: 18h00 – tickets: R80 at the door]
10 August 2012 – THE SOIL CAMPUS TOUR – Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, PE [starts: 18h00 – tickets R 70 at the door]
17 August 2012 – THE SOIL CAMPUS TOUR – Cape Town Intervarsity Special, CTICC, Marimba Restaurant [starts: 18h00 - tickets R50 at the door]
31 August 2012 – THE SOIL CAMPUS TOUR – UJ Arts & Culture Theatre, Kingsway [starts: 18h00 - tickets R 70 at the door]
On Friday they will be playing on Metro FM with Glen and Unathi, before playing teh UGU Festival in Port Shepstone on June 23.

All systems go...
They were one of the most talked about up-and-coming local bands, before they even had media coverage- but now they’re probably set to get quite a bit more.
The Muffinz (Skabs, Greg, Mthae, Simz and Sfiso) had their official album launch at Katzy’s in Rosebank on Wednesday night, to a packed house of screaming young girls- enough to remind one of the current craze surrounding One Direction. Just like the British boy band, The Muffinz have quite a knack of making young lasses weak, and it was for all to see.
Even Ntsiki Mazwai and Nothende (who pitched together) were seen bopping and jumping gleefully in the crowd.

Sfiso Buthelezi with those side-burns is a fan favourite
Through Just Music, the boys have released thei11-track debut effort Have You Heard, and don’t look like they will have much problem selling if this gig is anything to go by.
They performed some of their already popular songs, including “Umsebenzi Wendoda” and Khumbul’ Ekhaya”.

Jabba is giving us something a lil' different

There’s no argument here: Mi Casa is the most talked about band in the country. It’s no longer TKZee or The Parlotones. Over the weekend, they celebrated their 3 Samas and ALSO, their debut offfering hitting over 40 000 physical copies sold. Now considering file-sharing and other means of getting hold of music nowadays, that’s not half bad- even Gold sales are celebrated.
Label manager Allan Nicoll also hailed it as “a tremendous achievement”, and that the aim is double platinum.
J’Something (a fave with the ladies) said: “ We cannot believe that what started as a random night at a Soul Candi party has now turned into an album with platinum status. We feel so blessed and forever thankful.”
Also the 3D music video of current singel La Vida is out…
Congrats to them! Onwards and upwards, guys!

She’s been a little quiet of late, what with all the bad press surrounding her activities off-stage, so we were a tad surprised that Simphiwe Dana will be performing with a band on SABC 3′S breakfast show Expresso, next Thursday.
She is writing and has started gradually experimenting in studio, so it may still be too soon for any new material from a prospective follow-up to Kulture Noir (arguably her best effort yet), so the presumption is that she will play one of the popular songs off the 2010 album.

Two days before her appearance will be KB Motsilanyane’s turn to rock the SABC 3 breakfast show’s stage. She will perform “Run Free”- the title track.

Album cover for Looking 4 Myself standard edition
So we’ve heard and loved Usher’s “Climax”- the lead single from Looking 4 Myself, which is out in June. It’s not a special album cover, but Billboard magazine have him on the cover, and says it “may be the album of his career”. That could be quite something, considering 8701 and Confessions, but we’ll wait and hear.
The tracklisting is:
Can’t Stop Won’t Stop
Scream
Climax
I Care For U
Show Me
Lemme See (feat. Rick Ross)
Twisted (feat. Pharrell)
Dive
What Happened To U
Looking 4 Myself (feat. Luke Steele)
Numb
Lessons For The Lover
Sins Of My Father
Euphoria
DELUXE EDITION ALSO INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING FOUR TRACKS:
I.F.U.
Say The Words
2nd Round
Hot Thing

Official "Put It Down" single cover
Brandy, B-Rocka, Bran’Nu, whatever you wanna call her these days is back, and HOW! The star has released her first single from upcoming album Two Eleven (under RCA/Chameleon Records).
Listen to the song here: http://soundcloud.com/4everbrandy/put-it-down-main
We certainly think it’s a club banger, and should see star, who recently opened up about her eating disorders during her teenage years, back to the top of the RnB charts. We love it.
Put It Down, which also features Chris Brown, was produced by Shondrae “Bangladesh” Crawford and Sean Garrett and co-written by Chris Brown, Shondrae Crawford, and Sean Garrett.
