The MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) provided much entertainment last night and they were filled with lots of surprises as usual. The biggest surprise probably being the growing bump on Beyonce, finally Mrs Carter is pregnant. She is expected to give birth in Spring in the U.S which means we should probably expect Baby Carter in Autumn 2012 in S.A.
“I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside of me, ” (dramatic much?) she said as she was about to perform Love on top, a song out of her latest album 4. At the end of her performance she showed off her baby bump which had Jay Z and Kanye West in absolute excitement.
Another unexpected of the VMA’s was Nicki Minaj (looking wacky as usual) winning the best Hip Hop video. The category was probably one of the toughest of the night as she was going against Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco , Chris Brown and her boss Lil Wayne.
Bruno Mars also performed Valerie as a tribute to Amy Winehouse.
The biggest winners of the night were Adele and Katy Perry.Adele won four awards for her first single Rolling in The Deep. Katy Perry scooped the biggest award of the night, Video of the Year, for her song Firework.

Wednesday was one of those days where I wished human cloning was possible. Two events and only one of me,it was no easy task. The first stop was the Miss SA farewell at Sun International in Sandton. Miss SA is going off to the land of football Brazil to participate in Miss Universe.
The event was attended by a handful of people . My favourite person there was Julius Malema. He was there with his fellow comrade and Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula. A couple of of soapie stars were there including Sophie Ndaba, I heard her greeting Juju and Fikile with ” Hello darling ” had me wondering if Queen or Sophie had attended the event. Its very hard to differentiate between the two lately.
At the event they showed off the dresses that Bokang will be wearing at Miss Universe. The first dress, an emerald green frock was designed by Gert Johan Coetzee. The second, the national costume was abit bizzare.Designed by Andile Bhenye, the costume designer for Rhythm City, it was an african print dress which was accentuated with neon coloured frills at the bottom of the dress.
The pics of Bokang aren’t the greatest, sorry.
The premiere for the film How to steal 2 million was a real Generations affair. Held at Killarney mall the event was well attended. The movie directed by Charlie Mvundla is produced under father, Mfundi Mvundla’s production company. So obviously it was filled with Generations actors past and present from Akin Omotoso to Thami Mngqolo who plays Senzo on the soapie. The theme for the premiere was black and bling yet not even the cast and director followed it.Hlubi Mboya looked beautiful in a white dress. Our own little Hollywood starlet Terry Pheto was also there, she plays Olive in the film. Everyone was in jovial spirits which was probably because of the Patron that was on offer for guests. All in all it was a good night, the movie wasn’t horrible.

Following in the footsteps of the Kardashians and Paris Hilton, Bonang Matheba also has a reality show called B*dazzled. The show which is on its fifth episode is a look at the fabulous and glamorous life of Bonang Matheba the Live presenter and Yfm dj. Packaged in 15 minute shows it gives us a taste of Bonang’s life from work, parties and magazine launches.
The reality show is entertaining. Her use of vernacular language, Bonang being teargassed in Soweto (You will have to watch the show to know what I am talking about) all make Bonangs reality show real. It steers clear from the scripted feel that a certain Miss Thema had in her reality show when she went to Hollywood.
She is able to capture the girl next door look without losing her star factor. We would love abit more drama on the show though and maybe to delve a little deeper into her personal life. An episode with boyfriend Euphonik would be very interesting.
An episode of the show is flighted every month on her website . This type of reality show would be a hit on our local television station. Vuzu Entertainment would be the perfect market for such a show but I doubt her contract with SABC would allow her to liase with the competitors. Knowing how broke SABC I doubt we will be seeing B* dazzled on our screens anytime soon.
Until then you can watch her fifth episode right here:
Twitter was abuzz and many horrified on Sunday morning following Live presenters Minnie Dhlamini’s tweet claiming she was hit by a bouncer at Hush nightclub in Rosebank.
The Hush management was quick to refute Minnies claims . They said this in a Press Release released by Hush Night Club;
“Minnie alleged that Hush Security had assaulted her, but, as was confirmed by her friends, it was allegedly a client at the next door table who she had got into an argument with. Minnie was caught up in the fight and was hit unintentionally by a male HUSH client. Never was she punched intentionally by any of Hush staff let alone even the client. She was only on the receiving end of a punch that was not meant for her, but for our manager who actually tried to protect Minnie.”
Minnie was quick to respond to claims made by Hush. She tweeted:
Her agency also replied in a statement saying:
“We stand by the statement the first punch was thrown by the patron, then the manager threw the second punch and the bouncers manhandled Minnie Dlamini. ” they said.
A blow by blow round up of the feud between Nonhle Thema and Dineo Ranaka as seen on twitter.
Weighing in at 10 million rand on the left we have Nonhle Thema. Miss “Im rich b****z” is the former face of Dark and Lovely and undisputed heavyweight champion in the egomaniacs stakes. Miss Thema used to present on Channel O and Vuzu Entertainment until both parties decided to part ways … but we all think she was fired.
On the right corner we have Dineo Ranaka hostess of the Drive time slot on Yfm. Weighing in at mass- unknown- but -it –cant- be- much, she is a Yfm DJ after all. Miss Broke B***h also presents Etv’s Club 808.
Round 1
Nonhle throws a left hook
“I’m young and rich girl. YFM DJs are struggling to pay rent….sitdown or I will give you a loan. All the YFM DJs I can double your salaries”
“I can buy YFM…so sit down…”
Dineo Ranaka retaliates with a below the belter
“When you sleep for it (money), it comes fast… be patient with me @NonhleThema i’m still working, it takes a while…. #I’m BrokeBitch.”
“Even after birth my coochie doesn’t need stitches… word has it yours can park a bus… Good going channel o ho!”
Round 2
It seems that Dineo might have thrown in the white when he tweets to Nonhle Thema.
“a happy womans day to you. I pray you be blessed and humbled. Strength. Courage. Wisdom”
But the egomaniac is not done with the broke bitch, she throws in a series of punches .
“Dineo Ranaka im looking for you….come out skank with a shrinking brain..ow and drug addict”
“Where is that UGLY chick Dineo Ranaka ha ha guirl u UGLY for dayzzzzzzzzz ”
“Dineo Ranakas site cost 5 rands bitch sit down”
Is this a T.K.O or will Dineo fight back?
On Wednesday evening I rushed off to The Venue for the launch of Nina Jaresbrink Summer Collection in South Africa. Brandgroup International have added the Nina Jarebrink label to its stable of global fashion and design brands.
It was the first time I ever heard of Nina Jarebrink. She is from Sweden and is actually a pretty established designer even artists like Jessie J and Lady Gaga have worn items of her line. I was impressed by her collection loved her use of earthy neutral and earthy colours.
Back to the event, it was lovely. The atmosphere was intimate with a lovely crowd of people. Tamara Dey was the crooner for the evening bringing out her soulful side. I enjoyed her rendition of Too late by Brenda Fassie.
All the pretty people of Jozi were there. Spotted fashionista and M&G journo Miss Milli B, Zuraida Jardine and Dion Chang. The Yfm twins Hlelo and Ntando were also there.
