Remember Ras Dumisani, the Reggae singer who tunelessly sang our national anthem before a rugby test match? Well he’s not the only musician who’ll be remembered for a poor rendition of an anthem. Christina Aguilera fumbled a line of the American national anthem at the Superbowl.
Instead of singing”O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?” she sang, “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming?,” her own variation of a line she already sung.
Unlike Ras, Christina sang on tune. But what’s worse: messing up the lyrics or singing the anthem badly?
Our national anthem has a remix ( 4 languages) so I suppose I’d be a bit lenient on a singer who fumbled our lines. But we all know how patriotic Americans are, so I’m not surprised that she’s getting criticised.
At least her wardrobe didn’t malfunction, right?

Get a life. She sang the heck out of one of the hardest songs to sing and then gets blasted for messing up a line. I am not a big fan of hers but this is brutal. “One of the worst renditions ever?” Whoever wrote this I hope you don’t have any bad luck soon ’cause you’re going to need to boost that karma rating quite a bit. How’s your National Anthem rendition my friend? You have a nice day too.
