Jabba is giving us something a lil' different

There’s no argument here: Mi Casa is the most talked about band in the country. It’s no longer TKZee or The Parlotones. Over the weekend, they celebrated their 3 Samas and ALSO, their debut offfering hitting over 40 000 physical copies sold. Now considering file-sharing and other means of getting hold of music nowadays, that’s not half bad- even Gold sales are celebrated.
Label manager Allan Nicoll also hailed it as “a tremendous achievement”, and that the aim is double platinum.
J’Something (a fave with the ladies) said: “ We cannot believe that what started as a random night at a Soul Candi party has now turned into an album with platinum status. We feel so blessed and forever thankful.”
Also the 3D music video of current singel La Vida is out…
Congrats to them! Onwards and upwards, guys!

She’s been a little quiet of late, what with all the bad press surrounding her activities off-stage, so we were a tad surprised that Simphiwe Dana will be performing with a band on SABC 3′S breakfast show Expresso, next Thursday.
She is writing and has started gradually experimenting in studio, so it may still be too soon for any new material from a prospective follow-up to Kulture Noir (arguably her best effort yet), so the presumption is that she will play one of the popular songs off the 2010 album.

Two days before her appearance will be KB Motsilanyane’s turn to rock the SABC 3 breakfast show’s stage. She will perform “Run Free”- the title track.

Like huh?
First things first: The 46664 fashion range is a little pricey (Stuttafords should give you a clue). Secondly, while some of the tees are cute, others are a little odd- the picture above gives you a clue. If this is indeed how the tees look (with the explanation below it), there really is no need to S-P-E-L-L things out for us, dear designers, we get it!

The 46664 Fashion’s Statement T’s are said to “draw iconic inspiration from intimate access by the brand’s design team to archive material housed in the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory”.

This, we kinda likeYes1 Yes! Yes!

This past weekend saw a lot of parties, and of course it’s always impossible to keep up, hence The Social was unable to make sweet young ‘un Boitumelo Thulo’s birthday party at Taboo nightclub in Sandton. But word is it was as sweet as her smile.

We're not sure of Morale's height, but erm Boity aint the tallest

So we’ve heard and loved Usher’s “Climax”- the lead single from Looking 4 Myself, which is out in June. It’s not a special album cover, but Billboard magazine have him on the cover, and says it “may be the album of his career”. That could be quite something, considering 8701 and Confessions, but we’ll wait and hear.
The tracklisting is:
Can’t Stop Won’t Stop
Scream
Climax
I Care For U
Show Me
Lemme See (feat. Rick Ross)
Twisted (feat. Pharrell)
Dive
What Happened To U
Looking 4 Myself (feat. Luke Steele)
Numb
Lessons For The Lover
Sins Of My Father
Euphoria
DELUXE EDITION ALSO INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING FOUR TRACKS:
I.F.U.
Say The Words
2nd Round
Hot Thing

Official "Put It Down" single cover
Brandy, B-Rocka, Bran’Nu, whatever you wanna call her these days is back, and HOW! The star has released her first single from upcoming album Two Eleven (under RCA/Chameleon Records).
Listen to the song here: http://soundcloud.com/4everbrandy/put-it-down-main
We certainly think it’s a club banger, and should see star, who recently opened up about her eating disorders during her teenage years, back to the top of the RnB charts. We love it.
Put It Down, which also features Chris Brown, was produced by Shondrae “Bangladesh” Crawford and Sean Garrett and co-written by Chris Brown, Shondrae Crawford, and Sean Garrett.

The 33-year-old arrived in Johannesburg on Tuesday evening
We need to get this out of the way early: no under 18s will be allowed into the venue (Orlando Stadium) on Saturday. No, not because Usher is that sexual, but you know, HANSA will be flowing freely. Anyway, the US singer is in the country for a one-night only performance, although he’s been in the country since Tuesday evening. We’re all hoping it’s not one of those 1 hour and then he’s off kind of shows.
A lot has already been tweeted and said, so we’ll just give you a numbers breakdown for Saturday.
6 LEGENDS IN THE MAKING- Mo and the Dark Knights (GP), Busi M (Western Cape), Shoelance (Eastern Cape), Mapak’shop (Northern Province), Mo Klaassik (FS) and Abdus (KZN)

450- Security personnel that will patrol the stadium

Imiso Ceramics is the brainchild of Andile Dyalvane and Zizipho Poswa
We’re very excited to head to Jozi tomorrow for this gig.
No, we’re not off to drink (ok, so we are, but only because we believe this is such an exciting visual campaign). Absolut has commissioned hundreds sculptors, glass designers, fashion designers and musicians from all over the world to use the recognisable vodka bottle shape as a blank canvas to express themselves by turning it into art.

Mzwandile Buthelezi hard at work perfecting his "bottle"
The launch event tomorrow (which will be set on the backdrop of the Nelson Mandela Bridge) is expected to draw around 500 guests, including quite a few stars from various industries including fashion, music and art- all to celebrate South Africa’s leg of Absolut’s “It all starts with an Absolut Blank” campaign.

Faith47 is a Cape Town based grafitti artist with an eye for the dark side
We will be represented by artists including Imiso Ceramics, Faith47 and Hac One’s Mzwandile Buthelezi. A lot of these guys are already lauded for their work, but this could propel them to proper global recognition. We wish them well

The country's biggest soapie by far
Rule #1 NEVER mess with Generations’ timeslot at 8pm on SABC 1
Rule #2 NEVER upset the around 6 million viewers of the show
Thankfully SAMAs CEO Randall Abrahams and the folks at MTN (title sponsors for close to a decade now) know this and have moved the awards ceremony to 8.30pm- crucially after Generations on that Monday of April 30.
Said SABC 1 Acting General Manager Leo Manne: “We’ve placed the MTN SAMAs in their rightful prime time viewing slot – just after Generations, SA’s most popular TV programme – giving all South Africans the opportunity to be a part of the most illustrious event on the South African music calendar…”

Remember how the channel refused to move the soapie during the African Cup of Nations, and was willing to only broadcast eight games live and the others delayed? Yup, same applies here. Mfundi Vundla will be smiling somewhere. Wonder how much this show has made him over the years.
The SAMA nominees will be announced on the 8th of next month.
We’ll keep you posted!
