As you are probably aware, Uyanda Mbuli’s Diamond Face Couture will close the opening night of SA Fashion Week S/S on Friday 8 April 2011 in Braamfontein. Established some three years ago by Mbuli and designer Gert Johan-Coetzee, the label became the centre of fashion controversy when the latter left as head designer, leaving Mbuli- who had no design experience that we know of- to go it alone.

This will be the label’s second showcase sans Johan-Coetzee. Mbuli tweeted on Wednesday last week that SA Fashion Week founder Lucilla Booysen told her “…this is your best work since the label started! You have been the most progressive designer in SAFW.”

Come Friday, the rest of us will have the opportunity to see for ourselves. Is this Diamond Face Couture’s best collection yet?
