I just received my September Vanity Fair issue in the post. Its probably one of the nicest gifts I have ever been given. The subscription to my monthly dose of gossip presented in witty, well written packaging is a delight. That is when it arrives given the vagaries of the SA postal service.

Call me shallow but I absolutely adore the Best Dressed List – this is the 69th anniversary of the list. Making it into this hallowed hall of sartorial fame this year were some fascinating choices – that probably say more about the editorial bent of the VF and its political alliances than anything else. Why am i not surprised that Michelle Obama is a VFR style icon. Naturally the cover girl Carla Bruni Sarkozy features big time – what a fascinating woman – the new Jackie O.
