Algeria and Egypt both have a lot at stake, in playing to be the last African team to make it into the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Twenty years ago, the two teams were also forced to play for a place in the World Cup in Italy in 1990. The Pharaohs won that exchange.

There is no love lost between these two sides. Before last week’s game in Cairo, three Algerian players were injured when their team bus was pelted with stones. The Algerian coach, Rabah Saadane, said his team’s loss was due to injuries sustained by his players. After the game, at least 32 people were hurt, and the next day, Egyptian businesses in
Algiers were ransacked.

Fifteen thousand Sudanese police are being deployed to prevent trouble. There will be strict segregation of fans inside the stadium.

Thousands of supporters have already arrived at Khartoum Airport for tonight’s game. Khartoum has not seen such a football pilgrimage since hosting the African Nations Cup in 1970.
My money is on Egypt to win, and I hope we will only be talking about the quality of the soccer on field tomorrow.

Yes we deserved the win through and through the quality of the finish which gave us the winning goal. And the superb quality of our goal keeper who made few crucial saves. Was the difference between us and Egypt. Although Egypt is a good team. I believe that Algeria has a better team this time around and deserves to go to South Africa and represent the North African style of football. Which is lovely to watch and very entertaining football. I can’t wait to see them play again in June.

Yep Kylie, Algeria played a better game than Egpyt on the night and deserve to win. Antar Yahia score an amazing goal. The Algerians also have to thank the brilliant stand-in goalkeeper Fawzi Chaouchi. Well done Algeria, see you next here in South Africa.

Algeria won by a terror and time consuming tatics. They didn’t play football. We played better and threat the Algerian goal several times and Algeria didn’t play for 2 cents. They don’t know football but they do know terror and we make Algeria pay for that. We are the Arabic Super Power and Algeria is just a footnote to a footnote.
