I’ve always had a soft spot for outspoken and respected English commentator Geoff Boycott.

Boycs was speaking in his weekly podcast on http://www.cricinfo.com/talk/content/multimedia/430876.html and there was a question on why young bowlers (Irfan Pathan and Ishant Sharma were mentioned) from the subcontinent die away after a few years in the international scene.

Boycott: “When you’re a fast bowler you need to have some real aggression. I’m not sure that’s in the psyche of the Indian makeup.

“Most Indians -Hindu- don’t eat meat, they eat very late at night. Now that’s not good- going to bed on food which is eaten at 10pm and 11pm and going to bed.”

“Pakistan have delivered, they’re meat eaters- they’re aggressive. They’ve had Shoaib Akhtar, Waqar, Wasim, Imram- fantastic fast bowlers,” added Boycs.

Message to Higher Performance Centre’s Corrie van Zyl: Serve more meat to breed more Allan Donalds!!!
