Wine of the Day #47: Goose Sauvignon Blanc 2009

By Neil Pendock | 19 January 2011

How much? R150;
Where? Ganzekraal farm, Upper Langkloof Valley 27 (0)82 653 6800;
Why? The 14th century scholar John Trevisa, Vicar of Berkeley in Gloucestershire, taught that there are 40 moments in an hour, 12 ounces in a moment and 47 atoms in an ounce, concluding that mass and time are interchangeable five centuries before Einstein came along. This being my 47th wine, at the rate of one a day, tasting them all has taken 45120 moments which weigh 541440 ounces which is over 25 million atoms. No wonder I feel exhausted!

Wine of the Day #46: Goose Expression 2007

By Neil Pendock | 18 January 2011

How much? R300;
Where? Ganzekraal farm, Upper Langkloof Valley 27 (0)82 653 6800;
Why? Friday lunch at the Troyeville Hotel featured two Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz blends from relatively unknown appellations: Bergwater in Prince Albert and this Goose Wines Expression from the Upper Langkloof Valley behind the Outeniqua Mountains and the bucolic pleasures of the Garden Route.
