It was quite a coup for the skeleton in everyone’s wine closet, Tassenberg, to be praised by self-confessed wine snob Joanne Gibson in the Sunday Times Food Weekly yesterday. But to have Diners Club Winemaker of the Year for 2010 Bartho Eksteen (below) model a Tassenberg T-shirt in his Hermanuspietersfontein hideaway was just de trop!

Let’s hope that Pieter Willem (below), the fruit of Bartho’s loins, has inherited his pa’s good taste and takes Tassenberg with his to Elsenberg where he starts learning how to make wine later this week.

January 23, 2012 at 5:19 pmIf Pieter Willem can make wines as tasty as his looks, he will be producing 5 star wines! Lovely to see the young lad following in his father’s footsteps and some young blood joining the industry. Look forward to tasting his wines. Lets hope his initiation at Elsenburg is not too hard!
