Following hot on the heels of the fiasco in the UK parliamentary election last week, comes a poll of “SA’s pioneer wine bloggers” on Winetimes. The criterion is amount of posts per month and using this metric, Uncorked is placed second. Yet something is clearly wrong with the voting as winetimes’ graph below illustrates. Uncorked is the Mr. Mustard curve which is zero until June 2009 which was not the case. For example, if you bother to read this site you will see 16 postings for January 2009 as opposed to the zero recorded by Winetimes. Disregard these dodgy returns and Uncorked won in every month except for August 2009 and April 2010.

Winetimes' dodgy voting
Uncorked demands a recount and a groveling apology from Winetimes. The bottom five positions of the Winetimes poll are filled with denizens of the Grape communal blog and quite how reproducing a weekly Business Day column available online counts as a blog is a travesty when a simple link to the BDFM site would suffice. Winetimes should seriously rethink their poll as African elections have a bad enough reputation already without this one adding to continental confusion.
Keep digging, winetimes.
If you average my posts listed in your apology you get 32.4 which makes me the winner!
My earlier posts are not archived as you state, either.
Pity Cathy’s blog is not included, likee becauseit has only been live for a couple of months, but judging by the number of comments, 6 on her latest one, it’s another popular wine blog:

Hi Neil, I’m sharing the google spreadsheet with you.
We’ve divided everyone’s total posts by 16 months, including yours and
seeing that we could not find a count for the first 5 months, your
score worked out to 23.4 We all know you post the living daylight out
of wine and if we do another check in a few months time you will be
way ahead.
Original I wanted to see if wine blogging in SA was on the up or down.
On grape.co.za (you will love this) its on the down, but as a whole
(and mostly due to your contribution) its pretty steady.
My personal mission is to see if we can get the winos to up the post
rates a bit. More post, more news, more wine awareness
Ciao

@Andreas
We’re busy with the new wine blogger list. I think Cathy will slot in there somewhere
What about including the http://www.winenews.co.za site – it seems to have taken over from Grape as the communal blog of choice and the post from Harry on Cathy’s latest posting is a hoot.
@Sumien
We looked at winenews.co.za but thats more of a website (with loads of “column” writers) then a blog. What we looked at here was more focused on pioneering individuals and their permanent blogspot on the web.
Fair enough, but Michael Fridjohn is hardly a blogging pioneer. His “blog” is simply a reposting of his Business Day column.
I’ve heard a rumour that Harry Haddon is to try out for the Business Day gig. I do hope its true.
This is a first I’ve heard of this job application.
I am flattered by the rumour, but unfortunately it is not true.
It is known that cash can make us autonomous. But what to do if one has no cash? The one way is to get the personal loans or just small business loan.
Different people do not believe that some dissertation writing service is able to complete perfect dissertation research, but I order the thesis proposal of the best quality and I am satisfied.
Disregard these dodgy returns and Uncorked won in every month except for August 2009 and April 2010.

Looks like everyone is blogging these days. It is really the newest and the fastest method to spread your ideas. I run 3 blogs already. I also have a Twitter account for micro-blogging.

I like your style of writing. While I agree with your points I reckon not everyone would.
I like your blog post. Keep on writing this type of great stuff. I’ll make sure to follow up on your blog in the future.
