The GVG and I left Oudtshoorn at 7h50 this morning and measured out the distance to Montagu in glasses of wine – 126 to be exact. It’s an alcoholic version of the Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock who famously measured out his life with coffee spoons.
Some stunners and plenty of dogs en route. Speaking of which, my Sunday Times story on Mulderbosch Mike Dobrovic and his faithful hound Small Change has caused conniptions among canine Chardonnay connoisseurs.
The GVG and I are kenneled at the Montagu Country Hotel where Salomiena Lubbe was keen to show off her poochy prowess on the lap of owner Gert. Both were born on 9/9/something 9 which makes them biodynamically compatible.

Earlier in the day Mare-Lee Marais and Jono presented a trio of stunning reds at Kranskop in Klaas Voogds and then posed on the lawn for a photo.

Exactly how does that measurement work? The 126 glasses….
That couldn’t have been the short cut!
