GRAMMY® winners Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, Carrie Underwood, and Usher are prepping for this weekend’s Grammy Awards special 3-D tribute to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The four will perform a moving tribute of the song “Earth Song” to Michael- and his voice will also play a big part of the tribute. The tribute will feature a never-before-seen 3-D mini-movie of the song, which was created for his “This Is It” tour. The song has a strong theme about the future of the planet, and Jackson saw it as a unique opportunity to deliver a message to millions of people who would have seen him on tour.
According to co-exec producer for the Grammys, Ken Ehrlich “It was one of the most important portions of the concert tour to Michael and when Michael saw the film for the first time at his last rehearsal, there were tears in his eyes.” “This very special GRAMMY Moment will feature some of our most respected GRAMMY recipients, all of whom have a great love for Michael,” added Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. “This segment promises to be an emotional highlight of this year’s show, and is sure to join the unique list of amazing performances for which the GRAMMY Awards have become renowned.”
So not only will this pay tribute to one of the greatest musicians of all time, but it also marks a breakthrough in the technology for music’s biggest night with the introduction of 3-D technology. As mentioned before I’ll be up, blogging and tweeting all the action so stay tuned for this and more.
