So this little viral video below is doing the rounds at the moment showing TiK ToK star Ke$ha and a group of mates hijacking the Hollywood sign in L.A. Using spray paint and bed sheets, the group sneaked over the heavily guarded fence and replaced the words “Holly” with “Ke$ha”. She then frantically tweeted saying “HwOOD $IgN I$ oFFiciaLLY My bIZnatCH!!!!! Good work2allmyHoTCULpritss!! LOOK AT THE SIGN LA!” So if anyone is in L.A. and you saw this, tell us more… I’m thinking this is more of a hoax that the city officials were in on. Clever, but is this a sign (pardon the pun) of things to come from the rising star? Hollywood’s ‘It’ gal or Hollywood’s new ‘Train wreck’? One thing’s for sure, this “brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack” and “Boys tryin’ to touch my junk, junk” singer is definitely going to be making headlines in the months to come.

Dr Conrad charged with involuntary manslaughter in MJ case

By jason von berg | 8 hours, 56 minutes ago

Dr. Conrad Murray, a Houston cardiologist hired by Michael Jackson before his death on the 25th of June last yeas, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. Involuntary manslaughter according to Wikipedia is defined as “Involuntary manslaughter is the unlawful killing of a human being without malice aforethought. It is distinguished from voluntary manslaughter by the absence of intention. It is normally divided into two categories; constructive manslaughter and criminally negligent manslaughter.” For more details on this click here. Now if convicted he’ll face up to four years in prison. Murray has pleaded non guilty on the charges. Officials say Jackson’s death was allegedly as a result of Murray’s prescriptions of the powerful general anesthetic propofol and other sedatives.

The district attorney yesterday filed a case of involuntary manslaughter in which they allege that he “did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson…in the commission of an unlawful act, not amounting to a felony; and in the commission of a lawful act which might have produced death, in an unlawful manner, and without due caution and circumspection”. Bail was set at $75 000 and the doc, in addition to having his passport revoked, will appear in court again on the 5th of April. Hmmm… I can tell this is going to be one of them lengthy, even more drawn out processes. More to follow!

Who performed at Super Bowl half time show?

By jason von berg | 1 day, 9 hours ago

So the Super Bowl XLIV 2010 took place last night in the USA- and for the first time ever the New Orleans Saints came out on top! They beat the Indianapolis Colts 31 points to 17! I’m sure most of the Saints fans are still celebrating hard. Now because this is a music blog, I thought I must bring you the highlights of the Bridgestone Half Time Show. You’ll see The Who rocking it out in the video above. While they might have rocked out, apparently it wasn’t quite enough. One reviewer said the band was upstaged by the actual stage and that their performance was rather dull.

SUPER Riri1
Another said they played it “too safe” (well I suppose they didn’t want to stuff up like JT and Janet did back in 2004). So Who watched The Who and what were your thoughts? Holler.
Rihanna as per usual turned up the heat with her outfit at the Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam. Her half bikini/ half catsuit got a lot of people talking (good and bad!) Personally, i’m okay with what she looked like ;) Check out her performance below. You can also check out the video clips from the lovely Carrie Underwood performing the American National Anthem and child star, Justin Bieber, Timbaland and JoJo and the Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam events. That’s not all, we’ve also got a slide show for you all too!

Kelly Clarkson has no beef with Taylor Swift

So last week’s performance by Album of the Year Grammy winner, Taylor Swift left a lot to be desired, with loads of critics complaining that she didn’t bring her A-Game. (Watch the performance here). Look I agree with most of them, she wasn’t all that great, but that happens every now and then… Rihanna has off days, not so? Anyway her record label boss, Scott Borchetta of Big Machine Records quickly jumped to her defense saying, “The biggest message is (the critics) are not getting it. Because the facts say she is the undisputed best communicator that we’ve got. When she says something, when she sings something, when she feels something, it affects more people than anybody else.

“Maybe she’s not the best technical singer, but she’s probably the best emotional singer because everybody else who gets up there and is technically perfect, people don’t seem to want more of it. … I think (the critics) are missing the whole voice of a generation that is happening right in front of them. … She’s an extraordinary songwriter and her vocal performances are getting better. Everybody is not perfect on any given day. If you pick any of those artists that performed (on the Grammy Awards) I’m sure you can go online and find something where you go, ‘ew.’ Maybe in that moment we didn’t have the best night. But in the same breath, maybe we did. And nobody is arguing with the awards.

“The critics are missing the bigger picture. This is what always happens and is the unfortunate part of the American dream, that we build these people up to watch the critics tear them down. Well, you better have more than what you’ve got now if you think you’re going to get in the ring and fight with us. So, get in the ring. This is not ‘American Idol.’ This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note. This is about a true artist and writer and communicator. It’s not about that technically perfect performance.”

And while the rest of the comments are justified, it was the American Idol comment that got the awesome, fellow multiple Grammy winner Kelly Clarkson riled up. She took to her blog saying, “Wow …..Dear Scott Borchetta,

I understand defending your artist obviously because I have done the same in the past for artists I like, including Taylor, so you might see why it’s upsetting to read you attacking American Idol for producing simply vocalists that hit ‘the high notes’. Thank you for that ‘Captain Obvious’ sense of humor because you know what, we not only hit the high notes, you forgot to mention we generally hit the ‘right’ notes as well. Every artist has a bad performance or two and that is understandable, but throwing blame will not make the situation at hand any better. I have been criticized left and right for having shaky performances before (and they were shaky) and what my manager or label executives say to me and the public is “I’ll kick butt next time” or “every performance isn’t going to be perfect” ……I bring this up because you should take a lesson from these people and instead of lashing out at other artists (that in your ‘humble’ opinion lack true artistry), you should simply take a breath and realize that sometimes things won’t go according to plan or work out and that’s okay.

Sincerely,
One of those contestants from American Idol who only made it because of her high notes ;)

Well said Kelly. I had the opportunity to chat to her last week and not only did she give me an amazing interview, but she really does move me (emotionally and technically) with her performances and her music! She has no beef with Taylor either, just with Borchetta. On twitter she said, “I buy her albums and cover her songs, obviously I’m a fan.” Taylor is young and she is bound to have a crappy performance or two, don’t we all have those off days? Borchetta is a chop and Taylor will continue to be the ‘It’ girl of the music industry for many more weeks and months to come! So calm down!
