With some help from fertility treatment, but what her family describe as a miracle, a Tunisian woman in her 30s is expecting 12 babies. She must be into her second trimester because they already know that 6 of the babies are girls and 6 are boys.
We thought the octomum, Nadya Suleman had her hands full, but this teacher from Tunisia will be completely overwhelmed by hungry babies and dirty nappies. She is excited by imminent motherhood and told hospital workers that “All I want to do is to be able to hug my babies and show them all my love.”
This is what Nadya looked like carrying 8 babies. What will this woman look like carrying 12 near-term babies? (What on earth were the fertility doctors thinking implanting 12 embryos?) It’s unlikely that she will carry to term though and the babies will probably be born just after 20 weeks.
Her husband said that “In the beginning, we thought that my wife would give birth to twins, but more foetuses were discovered. Our joy increased with the growing number. The medical team told us that my wife would give birth naturally.”
