Kate Mulvey writes about her chosen single life today in The Times, London:
I have a fulfilling, uncompromised career, while most of my married friends have had to put their career on the back burner. I have a large circle of friends. I can go to the cinema whenever I please or just lounge in bed drinking cappuccinos and reading trashy celebrity magazines.
‘The Joys of being a spinster’ she calls it. I think it’s great that so many of my friends are single, very happily so, and by being free to travel the world, doing interesting work, having an eventful and exciting social life, they enrich my life.
