After meeting with Gordon Brown and David Miliband yesterday, US secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice played a recital in Buckingham Palace. She had expressed a wish to play the piano there before she leaves office in January next year. After her performance, the Queen presented her with an audio recording of the recital.

Rice is a concert level pianist. She was trained by her mother, a music teacher. She’s often referred to as the world’s most prominent amateur musician.

In the video above she’s seen performing Brahms with Louise Miliband, the wife of Foreign Secretary David Miliband, and three members of the London Symphony Orchestra.
