Minor Matters

More than a tweet. Less than a big read.

Next month’s issue (November) of Men’s Health features Barack Obama on it’s cover and an interview between its covers. His health and fitness, he says, have driven his success in life, love and leadership.

This publicity comes a month after Vogue graced him on their front cover. Esquire, yet another glossy magazine, published a lenghty endorsement of Obama on Thursday.

In the Men’s Health interview Obama talks about his struggle to give up smoking. He chews Nicorette gum now but has a cigarette from time to time. This is probably his only health vice. He eats well. Exercises most days. And his blood pressure is low.

His 45 minute fitness regime most days,  helps him clear his head and reduce stress. It is quite obvious from the picture above that Obama is in good health.

John McCain is said to be very healthy but he has had melonoma’s removed (a form of skin cancer), suffers from high cholesterol, some lymph nodes have removed, and he has anger management issues. His medical record was released in May this year.

There have been insistent calls from the media for the medical records of the vice presidential candidates.  Even though Palin, who could be a ‘heartbeat’ away from the presidency, has been quoted as saying ‘When you run for office, your life is an open book’, she is refusing to be open about her medical records.

A little late for this photo op, wouldn.t you say?

Let’s see now; 44 golf outings, seven vacations to exotic locations etc etc.

What a phoney baloney this Reverend Wright/Bill Aires/Sol Alinsky product. Oh and let’s bow and cowtow to Muslim leaders while you’re at it. And now the mosque of triumpn over the Twin Towers and 3001 victims from his buddies.

It is hard to be proud of my country with this stain on the White House and America.

Veteran and patriot.

Maybe Obama should spend less time in the gym and the “exotic locations” and more time correcting all the wrongs in this country. Who cares if John McCain has some skin cancers removed? Sure, the president’s health is very important but as long as he keeps the country in good shape and is a “good” president, I wouldn’t worry about his high cholesterol.

There is an old saying, a healthy mind in a healthy body. Having a balanced lifestyle that includes at least 30 minutes of exercise and a balanced diet can improve your overall activity and lead to a successful life. This is the case of president Obama but also many other important people. I’ve read an article based on a study that showed how working out for 30 minutes every day can be the healthiest thing you can do for your body and mind.
