Antonio Margarito, the only other man to have beaten Miguel Cotto, may have packed hard pads in his hand wraps – but Manny Pacquiao carries iron in his fists!
What a brilliant performance! Manny Pacquiao had his doubters going into today’s fight against Cotto, but I wonder how many there are now?
World titles at seven weights is amazing. Henry Armstrong held three concurrently, at featherweight lightweight and welterweight (he also drew for the middleweight title), but Pacquiao is right up there. Flyweight, junior-featherweight, feather, junior-light, lightweight, junior-welterweight and now welterweight.
After the first round I thought that it was going to be a really tough encounter, but Pacman made it look so easy from the second round onwards, although he had to take same good shots from Cotto.
Pacquiao’s two knockdowns were awesome – the first by right hook and the second by left uppercut. That second one truly set the tone for the rest of the fight, and by the last three rounds, it was clear that Cotto was not interested in winning … he was just trying to stick around to the final bell (and who can blame him?).
He was a beaten man long before referee Kenny Bayless waved it over.
Wat also impressed me about Pacman is the gracious manner in which he won. Mind you, Cotto was gracious in defeat as well.
Pacquiao deserves a good rest for now, but let’s face it – there is only one match-up out there that fight fans want to see now – Pacman v Floyd Mayweather.
Speaking of Mayweather, I didn’t notice him at ringside. Did I miss him? Was he there? Or did he give this one a wide berth?
Everyone I’ve spoken to – including Ricky Hatton – tips Mayweather to win a close fight between the two. But that, of course, was before Pacman’s demolition job on Cotto. I wonder what these tipsters would say now!
What do you think?

I say get an education. Become an electrician, a mechanic, a doctor, a lawyer — anything but a fighter. In this trade, it’s the managers that make the money and last the longest. With that said, congratulations to Pacquiao. Here’s another piece of valuable information I found.
Well done, pacman. As for the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, I predict a close points win for Pacman. This because of Mayweather’s superior defensive skills. Pacman’s workrate would see him collecting enough points to win, but won’t do enough damage to secure a stoppage.
Pacman will beat mayweather easy. Pacman always make his opponents look like amateurs…you just have to watch his previous fights…mayweather will run all night and can defend but with pacman’s punches coming from all directions at 100miles/hr mayweather will be exposed…
Pacquiao can and will beat Mayweather. There was a interview where Mayweather stated that Pacquiao was asked by Larry Merchant about fighting Mayweather 3 times… Mayweather made it seem like Pacquiao did not want to answer… the fact is… being Filipino and being asked in english didn’t strike him. You know for a fact if you put anyone in the ring with him, he will fight. He admitted himself at that weight division was a huge factor and will drop down, but he has shown the world that he can get the job done. Mayweather will always and will continue to run his mouth… always got to be flashing his money, dancing like an idiot and plain and simple a douchebag. Don’t get me wrong… he has all bragging rights… until PACMAN messes up that pretty boy face… Mayweather will be known as UGLY BOY FLOYD…

November 15, 2009 at 7:33 pmManny Pacquiao has had the stuff to defeat the “Pretty Boy” for some time now. I didn’t need the Cotto fight to think that. Floyd has been dodging this fight for years now. Styles make fights. Although Mayweather is the most boring boxer in the history of the sport, he would be forced into an exciting fight against Pacquiao. Unfortunatley, this fight will probably never happen since the pretty boy lacks the courage to fight Pacquiao. The only boxing match I am interested in watching these days would be Mayweather Pacquiao. To make it a reality would be as easy as 1,2,3. However that reality still evades us, the slowly dying fans. It is yet another brick in the wall of discust boxing has been building in the publics eye for years.
