WOW. Gotta love it when the gloves come off and you get a glimpose throught the curtain of undying unity at the reality of Cabinet bickering.
And so it has been with Housing Minister Tokyo Sexwale and his predecessor, Lindiwe Sisulu.
The whole thing turned ugly when Sexwale canned a R22 million theatre production, saying it was wasteful expenditure. And he announced he was tearing down and rebuilding 40 000 houses badly built in the past.
But if he thought Sisulu was going to take it lying down, he was mistaken.
She has fired back, saying that Sexwale was claiming credit for a number of initiatives launched under her watch. She had initiated the plan to repair the RDP houses and to bring in the Special Investigating Unit to uncover fraud – initiatives which Sexwale has announced recently.
And, she added some barbed remarks. Sexwale should “spend some time in the office reading reports and cabinet memos from 2004″.
“He (Sexwale) will discover that when you implement a new plan and a housing project, you need to communicate with all stakeholders. Beneficiaries of government housing programmes must be educated on their responsibilities, how they can economically benefit from the project, how to report fraud and corruption and to ensure that contractors do not take advantage of them.”
There has been reply from Sexwale … for now.

Wonder if Tokyo will pull down those RDP houses built under his watch when he was premier…that would be a genuinely symbolic gesture!

This is very silly, Lindiwe. You are just a Minister because of your father (may his soul rest in peace). You failed the Department. If these were your initiations, why did you fail to impliment them in you 5 years term. Most of the houses that need to be rebuild was built in your era. Now you are in the Defence force, it is a mess. Hence you’re there, we haven’t hear of you new approaches to rectify the situation in the department. Maybe you don’t know, Defence force is the worst and failed department and you keep on looking for credits on other persons instead of doing your job, you are just a failure. Tokyo, the well known bisuness man will definitely work with honor because he can not fraud tax payers money. He already have money.

A Premier GlendaN, in my knowledge Premiers are not responsible for issuing tenders and building houses, I work for on of the Premiers in SA he can not be held responsible because of the Housing departments failure to give tenders to competent people. His duties was to co-ordinate provincial departments
