Our caption story: This spectacular, rare battle of the beasts was caught by wildlife photographer Vaclav Silha. The 45-year-old Czech got the shock of his life after setting up his camera on the banks of the Nile in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, to take snaps of a group of 50 hippos bathing in the river.
A colossal fight broke out between the group and a crocodile that strayed too close to a mother and her calves.

The croc sometimes gets a baby hippo. See “Monster croc hauls dead baby hippo” on Youtube.

Surely an African newspaper should not make such a basic error as stating that the Nile flows through the Serengeti. The acknowledged source is near Jinja in Uganda.
