THIS week Jacob Zuma visits Equatorial Guinea for the second time this year. His previous visit took place on the eve of the election. This time he visits as head of state as mercenaries are released after a presidential pardon.
Wow. This country must be some kind of serious priority for South Africa.
Let’s recap what kind of state we are talking about here:
Well the president, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, has ruled since 1979 – that’s 30 years. Perhaps Zuma is visiting to celebrate this milestone?
A far more likely motive is that one object which causes politicians and their hangers on to rise from their slumbers – oil.
Equatorial Guinea has oil that it is willing to trade for political respectability. And South Africa has many oil dealers, politicians who are oil dealers, former politicians who are oil dealers and the like.

Sir, please remind me what your editorial said then?
SHO SHAIK HAS SOME BUSINESS INTEREST THERE THAT HE WANTS ZUMA TO FACILITATE ON HIS BEHALF. HA,HA,HA MAYBE ANOTHER PART OF EG WILL BE NAMED AFTER SHAIK
IF Mr. Zuma’s visit to the Equatorial Guinea is of a capitalism objective state of mind then he is not what we thought he would be when we eleceted him as president
I have after reading found no evidence that draws an inferance of coruption or ‘self feed’ of SA polititians as having interest in the Equatorial Guinea..simplply meaning that we should not look too much into corruption scandal but think the best of our leader…becouse since Zuma has become president he has not shown any acts of misconduct
The redress to any possible misconduct would definatley calling back like Thabo Mbeki..

I wonder what difference that makes to today’s price of fuel.
