THERE are alarming signs that Cope is disintegrating. It has lost Allan Boesak, a man who should never have been elevated to a leadership role in the first place, given his dodgy past. But once Cope decided it wanted Boesak on board, it went for the lose-lose option.
Boesak damaged its image as a party offering “change”. He symbolised politics as usual. Now they have lost again as he departs from Cope while firing a broadside at the party. This from Sapa:
“I have today informed the leadership of Cope that I am ending my membership of the party and that I have tendered my resignation as a member of the Western Cape provincial legislature with immediate effect,” said Boesak.
“From the very beginning the party structures, such as they were, were characterised by faction fighting, strife, pitched battles for political supremacy and duplicity…
“At this point the party structures continue to be in disarray,” he said.

The formation of Cope was a great idea but it lacked the gravitas of some real leaders. Let’s face it for Cope to succeed there has to be some competent black people at the helm. Unfortunately, few ethical people will want to be involved in either the ANC or Cope. The latter is self-destructing in a spectacular fashion. The ANC regime is already on a similar path but their true supporters just do not realise it yet. The tripartite alliance gives the party strength but it will also be its undoing as can be seen by the wholesale takeover by the communists.

Boesak just helped to speed up the fall of the unsteady wall, however I feel COPE is not yet finished.
I will probably be attending DA convention in Graafreinette in few days and will hear more about these things at that time.

COPE needs five to ten years to establish itself and become meaningful, and it will.

What it does not need is self-important opportunistic political whoores like Boesak. Good riddance

@ Larry,

Your state of denial has gone pass, and you now admit that COPE doesn’t know whether they are rats or birds, therefore have no meaning?

One never knows anything for sure anymore, but one thing is certain. The Nkosipompano will always be a certain fishcake..
