WOW. Cosatu’s Zwelinzima Vavi has fired a broadside at government officials who enrich themselves with the perks of office.
In a speech prepared for a celebration of 50 years of the SACP’s African Communist, he said: “Measures are being taken to curb corruption, though far more has to be done to rid the country, and in particular the public service, of this culture of self-enrichment.”
Then he said: “Even among some of our own cadres the view that those in public office have the right to R1-million cars and weeks in top five-star hotels has become deeply ingrained, and it has to be fought with every weapon at our disposal.”
Among those who thinks he has a right to the “obscene perk” of a R1 million car is the Higher Education Minister, Blade Nzimande, one of the SACP’s top officials.
“We will never curb the greed of the capitalists if our own leaders follow the same path and adopt their greedy morality of ‘me first’.”
So far only silence from Nzimande. Perhaps it’s hard to hear the rabble from the sound-proof interior of your limo …

Along the years Vavi has been a blubber mouth,i have never seen him in action.Talk about his ideology with our ‘POLITICAL BRAT’ ..Julius Malema of nationalising mines, how can you nationalise Motsepe’s property(dont forget, the constitutional right to property sec 26)
Nzimande has made a mistake and he has been punished enough by being humilited with taking the car back..I expected Vavi to give an opening speech..not a presidentail redress to curbing corruption..he said anything when he blubbered about Zuma getting a third term, Vavi should stick to writting minutes….
