Makema is not running the country, he is doing what the rulers in the ANC are telling him what to do. In post colony Africa, employment is used by the ruling party to control the people in black Africa. SA is a little different because it has a vast private sector and many people don't depend on jobs from the government. This is why many of the black educated Africans have left Africa because they are not part of the ruling party and they can't get a job. As you all know by now that qualification doesn't mean very much in getting a job for the government in Africa. All what Helen is saying the blacks in SA are saying the same thing privately but, will never say this in public. There are people that go around and informed on their neighbors to the rulers. These people might find themselves blacklisted and can't get services or even worst, lose their job. That happen here in the US during the McCarthey period many people were blacklisted and could not get work. This is why people are so quit and don't speak out on what's going on in Africa and SA. You should hear them talk when they come to the US and the stories they tell about Africa.

Does this mean Malema is in effect running the country? God forbid! Why can't he be brought to book for the things he says and does? He should be prosecuted for hate speech and blatant racism.

Helen is right about most of the thing she said in her article, however she didn't go far enough. The people in the ANC have been traveling around the world selling SA a democracy and this is far from being true. SA has set up a system that give the people that this country is a democracy but, the people have very little voice in running the government. The people should have the right to elect their government on the local level. There should not be a situation where an person like Malema running around the country telling everyone that the mayor of the town has been removed. To me SA is one step of becoming another Zim. and is not a government by the people and for the people. Corruption is destroying this country and it's going to make SA ungovernable.
