ANC STATEMENT ON COMRADE KADER ASMAL

The African National Congress (ANC) has – with concern – observed the intense public debate between veteran ANC member Professor Kader Asmal and leaders of Umkhoto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKVA).

Today I held discussions at ANC headquarters Luthuli House with MKVA leaders to find closure and bring sanity on the matter.

While we accept responsibility of ensuring that the younger generation of our movement should respect ANC veterans, we equally expect veterans to provide leadership on issues.

In line with ANC tradition, Comrade Kader is welcome to engage us on any issue. But wish to warn that in taking on issues, self-destruction can bleed you to death.

Why does death always feature in ANC rhetoric when they talk about go after their “enemies”

The veterans wish him dead an Mantrash are calling on issues to kill him slowly. Such violence

The same warning can be passed on to Mantashe, the whole of the ANC and all of Africa.

IN FACT it is a self-fulfilling prophesy.
