CLAIMS published in Australia’s Daily Telegraph newspaper that Caster Semenya has “failed” her gender test have shocked South Africans.
The newspaper quotes one unnamed IAAF source who is quoted as saying: “There certainly is evidence Semenya is a hermaphrodite. But the trouble is the IAAF now have the whole ANC and the whole of South Africa on their backs. Everything is going to have to be done absolutely by the book, no question of a challenge to our findings.”
This report bears no comment from Semenya or any athletics official in South Africa. There is no IAAF comment other than the off-the-record quotes.
Until there is much firmer evidence, these reports cannot be counted as statements of scientific fact. Even if they are correct, the newspaper’s failure to inform Semenya and obtain her comment before publishing to an incredulous world, was insenstive.
We hope that the IAAF will put an end to this public discussion about Semenya’s gender by fully disclosing to her the outcome of their tests. This is a deeply personal matter that requires transparency and sensitivity.

Chuene and ASA failed the boy/girl and must take the rap.

Chuene, no doubt will call the rest of the world liars. He will blame the world for creating another Saartjie Baartman. He will categorically state that Africa do not subscribe to strange sciences after which he will hopefully row over his dugout over the nearest edge of the world.

I wonder who shamed SA more. Huntley or Chuene. My bet is Chuene…let’s see if he gets chasticed

Ray, of all the reports I read, your blogpost is absolutely spot on. But then I load The Times website a few minutes later and noticed your paper used the same questionable report as reference to publish the same “facts” as your Top Story?

What is worse? The tabloid Aussie Daily Telegraph who publishes tabloid stories, or The Times who used a tabloid article as reference and published it as mainstream news on its site?

I think you are just pissed you weren’t the first to break the story.

You really want us all to think that The Times would have sat on the story had you known first ?

Pull the other leg… it’s got bells on.

The ASA have handled this very badly as have the politicians. My heart goes out to her.

All i can say is that let us rather wait for the official results. But i have to say that we can’t act surprised. We should have expected that the results would reveal such. Everything about her says she is a man…even her name. Wat kind of a name is Caster to give a female child??? In all that, i still say that the matter could have been handled in a different manner. The media seem to be forgetting that she is just 18 and is still studying. this could affect her academic performance. ASA should confess to what they know coz i really think they knew about Casters condition but chose to ignore it so that SA could have an advantage in the world championships. Now the country will be seen as a cheating nation. i just hope the ANCYL does not comment any more on the matter as they will just turn this into another racial issue.

Nozipho please your comment is condesending to say the least. The poor girl is suffering owing to people espoused to your line of thinking. Live the ANCYL as they have shown interest in what is a national crisis involving a youth of South Africa. The abuse continues because some people like you do not believe the poor child can out perform some white counter parts. This is a clear act of racism and it is time people accept that, only white media have sensationalised this matter and read our own papers you will fins that our white journalists are the ones insisting that ASA is to blame. The name Caster should be left out since you cannot even say it is a male name, which is not the case. Pretending to be worried about the effect of these news reports on her studies and yet contiue to accuse her of fraudulently participating in the athletics, really creates doubt on whether you are listening to your self at all. Please this thing about insulting our golden GIRL should stop and people should stop now. These people should get over the fact that she outrun them.

To you Nozipho my name is Loyiso and I am a female, a woman and to top it all I was born in the 70’s My sister take you blinkers off, If you qoute things such as a name as the things that determine a person’s *** for a child that was born in the 90’s, then I don’t know where you hail from.Haven’t you heard of unisex names??? This child is going through a lot, she doesn’t need narrow minded people like you to keep on judging her and adding salt to an open wound especially a black South African, or kanjani??? That is a bit harsh and cruel. I hope you are not a mother or intend to be one, and please do not tell us not to act suprised those who are surprised are within their rights to be surprised, and please in future get your facts in order before you open your mouth. The IAAF has made it clear that Caster’s case is not a case of cheating as she knew herself as a girl. He was born a girl(as the ****** was the one visible)and also registerd as a girl, again maybe you haven’t heard of Tomboys.

To G. Annandale

Why is this Chuene/ASA’s fault?

Some cowards at IAAF leak a confidential report to the media, and some insensitive and cowardly journalist seeking “fame” at the expense of Caster publishes a confidential report; and you say Chuene is to blame? Really now. This is a very strange conclusion from you.

The unfortunate reality is that some white people behind this sensationalism still regard black people as inhuman and do not deserve to be treated with sensitivity. I wish these cowardly people could be bitten by bull terriers and die a very slow and painful death. Shame on them.

Caster is a human being with feelings just like all of us. To all these self righteous people, how would you feel if you have a birth condition and it was splashed all over the papers before you were even informed of the findings. More importantly, how would they feel if Caster was their child?

Caster is not a “toy”. Leave her alone and focus on your miserable lives.

Sies! Nxxx.

Nkoatse if you take your silly racial blinkers off and use your time to do some proper research on gender testing in athletics you would realise that a lot of white women have been tested before so it’s not a racial issue as your stupid nationalistic pride makes you believe. What if that was your daughter coming second ? How would you feel about it then. Until you stop your stupid racially-biased outlook on criticism you will never progress to a normal way of thinking.

Why we must blame Chuene. Firstly according to various reports there have always been questions regarding the gender issues of Caster. It apparently came to the fore with the world junior champs.ASA apparently conducted tests. Why did Chuene and ASA not kept Caster away from world champs. Secondly ASA and Chuene was well aware that the IAAF were about to take initial gender tests on Caster, why as boss of ASA did he not intervene. Thirdly with the arrival of the Athletes from the World Champs, Chuene allowed the ANC and ANCYL to make it a political circus. Fourthl for someone as Chuene to publicly critisize testing as European Science smacks in the face of everyone associated with athletics. So all drug testing is also European. Fifthly for someone like Chuene to jump on the bandwagon to criticize the media as “hostile white media” just show me the competence of the man. Chuene and his ASA should disban with immediate effect and new executive of ASA should commence. Yes, in this whole affair I blame Chuene. He is unfit to lead any sporting body. He is a cheater.

Bloody Australians. I think it’s time to speak to North Korea about Nuclear testing. We need targets and I know where we can test them nuclear weapons.

nkoatse, can’t you read??? i said let us wait for the official results. and why are you so defensive? i said nothing new. we can’t turn a blind eye to the fact that the results could come out and shock the rest of yal who are in denial. i support caster, but i am also preparing for the worst coz we can’t pretend as if her gender is not questionable. instead of blaming everyone, we should just face the truth that there is storm that is raging. i think the ASA has been silent for too long, but i know that they knew what the rest of the world is about to know. so don’t be too quick to throw insults and judgements at me. i am entitled to my own opinion. if u feel caster is 100% woman, then u have nothing to worry about. the truth shall set u and her free.

not supprising the outbreak was from an Australian newspaper, gee I went to that country and was appaled by how the old South Africa is represented, I mean, the old flag, the so-called bok town and everthing that South Africa has thrown into the dustbin. I was shocked and realised how lucky I am to have survived such racist attitudes from the people who once lived in SA. Its no longer a male or girl issue with Caster but a huge political game.

Everyone is getting hung up and the various degrees of emotiveness on this issue is generating nothing but shallow confusing clutter.

Caster Semenya’s situation is something that she will have to manage and live with, whatever the final outcome of her gender and s.ex questions are.

The IAAF and ASA situation is that they have to apply rules of fair play, regardless of Semenya’s feelings, or that of her countrymen and women. The must disregard the emotive hogwash of feelings and bullshit accusations of racism. They must be the final arbitors of Semenya’s fate as far as her profession is concerned.

As for the rest of us, and the entire world of people who have so much of this or that to say about it; we must leave it to the experts and professionals in the IAAF body.

As for the politicians, including Chuene; – they can go faak themselves, and take 90% of the blame for Semenya’s pitiful situation.

@Dinuzulu
Chuene lies and you believe him. He was disgraced at the Olympics. IAAF warned him that she should not compete in Berlin. But the gold medal was more important. IAAF tried to contact her and was blocked.

She is a victim but not of IAAF and the Media. A victim of Chuene and his justified inferiority complex.

She is now the world champion and must play to world rules. Not to the rules of “South African” victimhood.

South Africa once again is right and the world is wrong. Imagine what a joke this makes us. I f you don’t see it go see my blog

Magmoed,Caster’s gender’s questions didnt “come to the fore at the junior championship” as wrongly reported in media, her own village taunted and insulted he and her familyr throughout her life, even the rival schools used to insist on checking her genitals after she cleans out the medal cupboard on every athletic meetings she use to take part in.

That’s how cruel some people are.

Tyson ***, the American 100 metre champion, tired of being humiliated by Usain Bolt every time the compete, is going to have his “willy” docked. By cleverly applying African logic, Chuene and Stofile style, he will compete against woman and establish new benchmarks in the womans sprints that should stand for eons.
