INCREDIBLE coincidence, isn’t it? As the vote counting process began wading through the treacle yesterday morning, Zimbabwe’s President, Robert Mugabe, has steadily advanced in the polling.
Results with around two million votes officially tallied now suggest that he has crept up to 42 percent of the presidential vote to Tsvangirai’s 52%. Makoni has 7 percent.
My prediction? A sudden surge of “rural votes” in favour of Mugabe as the counting nears the end will send him over the top in miraculous fashion. Remember that 9 million ballot papers were printed and only 5,6 million voted. So there are 3,4 million ballot papers floating about somewhere …
