South Africa’s electricity utility, Eskom, has created a special “direct line” bearing uninterrupted power to Robert Mugabe’s luxury Harare mansion to ensure that “this country’s good friend” does not find himself in the dark.
The cable, said to run through farmland and even on the bed of a river for several kilometers carries power from a power station in Limpopo directly to Mugabe’s house, apparently on the instruction of South Africa’s Department of Foreign Affairs.
One Eskom insider told The Times: “To ensure Mugabe’s power is clean, the power station has to black out an entire South African suburb for at least four hours a day.”
A spokesman for President Thabo Mbeki said Mugabe needed the power “to ensure the smooth running of Zimbabwe’s democratic processes”. “This is a good investment in building our region into a powerhouse,” he said.

Bwahahahahaha. April Fool.

Dear Sir/Madam,
It didn’t feel like an “April Fool’s” joke.

Sadly, the degree of sycophantism and general corruption of the Mugabe regime makes such occurences less-than-extraordinary.

The party (Zanu-PF) is over…

Let’s hope Comrade Bob is out by April 1st, and the joke is on Zanu-PF

The way Mbeki is so complicit in allowing Mugabe to do what he like with litle or no SA sanction, i actually read this and believed it for a while!

Hi Rowan,

I have been missing you, fighting with the racists. They are mixing water and oil.

ak…

there are many more phrases and much reading about all languages and cultures that you and I need to explore and learn. I am sure oil and water will feature in many!

I once heard an Italian man who commented on a couple who had a bad stormy relationship: He said their relationship was like throwing water into a pan of hot oil…Lots of steam!

ak, not everybody is a racist. A different view on anything for a person does not necessarily that person a racist make. Even here in the new RSA. Azania, whatever, wherever, it is a small world…

For me, racism is an issue which unfortunatley may be debated for many years, and waste time… and then finally maybe we will all sit down together and wonder what all the stupid disagreements were all about! Globally.

Remember, we have work to do. **** RACISM! **** the politics. LETS GET TO WORK!

That is the way I see it anyway!
