AN expert on robotics from the University of Sheffield is warning of the danger posed by the rapid development of robotic weapons by the big powers.
The US alone will spend some US $ 4bn by 2010 on unmanned systems, scienceblog.com reported yesterday.
There are already over 4 000 robots on active duty in Iraq and unmanned aircraft have flown hundreds of thousands of flight hours.
The next, somewhat frightening step is the development of “autonomous weapons – “robots that will decide on where, when and who to kill,” the blog said.
Haven’t these people seen Terminator?
