BIG brother Microsoft’s move to take over Yahoo! in a multi-billion dollar merger, will have consequences for one of the web’s most exciting social applications.
The photo site Flickr, which allows users to post pictures, comments and create groups based on common photographic interests, could become part of the giant corporation.
Not surprisingly, Flickr users are up in arms and groups with titles such as “Keep your evil grubby hands off our Flickr” have been established.
It would seem that it is the destiny of all successful social networking sites to be taken over by conglomerates. More’s the pity.
