This is actually a good thing. Individuals maintain their state of prejudice because (1) their opinions are representative of their peer group; (2) groups actively reinforce common values and resist change; and (3) it is natural for people to assume that their individual and group beliefs are more widely represented in society than is the actual case.

So I say that unsavory comments on blogs are a good thing because individuals will be challenged on their opinions, subjected to new ideas, and learn that their beliefs are not universal. Not all individuals will change, but being confronted with alternatives is the basis for change.

Why is racism so unnecessarily ingrained in our society – the obvious answer is apartheid, however we still live in an environment where there’s institutionalised racism in, for example, our labour policies. Most institutions have a preference to hire blacks. I’m not saying this is right or wrong, but I am not surprised that racism is still so rife when it lives and breeds in our institutions.

Why don’t you guys simply make an example. They might seem anonymous, but they sure can be tracked down! It might be a bit of a mission, but these ******** would think twice before writing their **** next time! All you need is to unmask a couple of them and then let justice take its due course. End of problem!
